Bio

I failed my first grammar test in seventh grade. Great opening line for a writer, right? Once I got the whole subject-verb thing down, I found I really liked grammar and writing. It took me awhile to figure out that being a writer was my “thing.” You know – the this is what I’m passionate about and supposed to be doing feeling. But once I did, every crazy freelancing day is better than the next (albeit with some learning experiences along the way).

So now for the formal part. I graduated from OSU with a B.A. in Strategic Communication and minors in Spanish and Professional Writing. I should have known that when I gladly accepted the challenge of ensuring each writing assignment I turned in was perfect down to the last space, I was on to something.

I’ve never been of the “this is where I see myself in five years crowd,” so I took some valuable detours on the way to writing. Four plus years as an office manager introduced me to the real world and invoicing. Writing went from assignments on the side, to cheating on my office job with The Metropreneur, to I’m ready to be an entrepreneur.

And now here I am. Along with doing the freelance shuffle, you will find me exhibiting class writer tendencies – drinking too much coffee, advocating for the fact a glass of scotch can help those words come out a little bit easier, getting inspired to write at really weird times and places, and speaking to my 17 lb rescue cat Sir Winston as if he will respond. And, I freaking love this city and the people in it. They make everything all that much better.
